Rich dessert with walnuts and a LOT of sugar. But lemon slices give nice fresh touch to this dessert goddess. Easy and fast way to satisfy your crave for sugar.

  • 1 pack Phyllo dough (500 gr)
  • 400 gr walnuts
  • 1,5 dcl hot milk
  • 160 gr butter (room temperature)
  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • 1 vanilla sugar
  • 35 gr butter to spread the dough

For syrup:

  • 500 gr sugar
  • 2 dcl water
  • 4 lemon slices
  • cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 200C degrees.

Chop walnuts and put them in a bowl. Add both sugars and stir with spoon.

Heat milk and pour it over chopped walnuts. Add butter and stir everything well.

Set aside. Melt 35 gr of butter in microwave. Take one sheet of phyllo dough and spread a bit of melted butter on top. Cover with another sheet of phyllo dough and press with your hands. Take about 3 tbsp of walnut mixture and spread it over dough to about half of dough size.

Roll the dough and set aside.

Repeat with the rest of the dough and walnut mixture. Slice each dough roller into little pieces, about 6 cm long.

Brush the baking tray (mine is 25×37 cm, it was little crowded for mini baklavas so if you have a bit larger tray it would be great). Put baklavas in, and bake for 15 minutes.

In the meantime make the syrup.

Put all the ingredients in a pot and bring to the boil.

Reduce heat to minimum and cook for 5 minutes. Pour hot syrup over hot baklava . Let it cool at a room temperature and then put it in the fridge overnight.
